Galactic Firepit
Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day is a combined Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope image showing the the dust band that surrounds the Sombrero Galaxy, Messier 104, in the constellation of Virgo.
This puts me in mind of a very large fire pit. How large are the campers or picnickers who would use such a thing?
