Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day focuses on Pluto's major moon of Charon, named after the ferryman who brought you across Styx and Acheron to the land of the dead. Visited by the New Horizons vehicle (now on the way to a January 1 encounter), here we have all we knew before New Horizon (inset in the link) and after (above and in the link).
